Friday March 1st, 2013 was the weekly #SpoCT at Boots Bakery & Lounge located at 24 West Main Avenue. #SpoCT is a networking opportunity connecting the Inland Northwest’s social media creatives. Over 50 of Spokane’s talented business professionals met up, making Boots even cozier. Bumping into people was both figurative and literal. Attendees met to interface offline as well as online. This casual TweetUp feels more like a gathering of friends more so than a stodgy networking event. I only saw only one necktie in the whole place and he was going to a job interview later.
Traditional media has begun to take interest in #SpoCT. KREM TV interviewed Mike Ellis, coffee cup in hand, who founded #SpokCT with Doyle Wheeler. The event also featured a drawing for tickets to War Horse showing at the INB Performing Arts Center March 5 through 9.
If you are looking to meet business professionals in the Spokane region in a low-key setting then #SpoCT is perfect. Come early and bring money for parking which is available either at meters on the street or at an adjacent lot. Be prepared to meet a diverse group and bring your smartphone to add Twitter followers.
