Be Open Mic Night has become the creative outlet for Spokane’s performing artists since its creation a few years ago. Moving to the bigger venue of Geno’s has allowed the accommodation of larger and larger audiences. Established by Michael Bethely of Be2Become, it is a welcoming venue for budding talent chomping at the bit to get in front a crowd.
First-timers are graciously accepted within the safe confines of Geno’s Pizza at 1414 North Hamilton Street in Spokane. Applause is addictive. Striving to learn or create new material to perform is truly enriching. Veterans can develop a following at Be Open Mic Night. Inviting friends to share a margarita pizza and watch you stand up at the mic is much more rewarding than sitting at home watching American Idol. Who needs Nicki Minaj anyway?
If you are a little uneasy getting up and strumming your guitar alone Be Open Mic Night provides a terrific backing band. The drums, bass and keys play by ear and can adeptly accompany your performance.
Don’t be timid about bringing an electric guitar and amp. Rock-and-roll and electric blues is in demand. Don’t bring a Marshall half stack pushing 100 watts into a 4×12 cabinet. A small combo is perfect. If you need more volume they can always mic you up.
